Wenru (Wendy) Shi

As Demand and Market Development Lead, Wendy leads policy and market development efforts that translate CDR ambition into bankable demand, such as through public-private partnership and buyers club. She joined Carbon Gap driven by the conviction that demand creation is critical to building an emerging industry, and that CDR has significant potential to scale through the right combination of policies, market mechanisms, and financing instruments enablement.

Prior to joining Carbon Gap, Wendy was a strategy consultant in the Middle East, where she worked on multilateral / national government and development finance institution strategies. She also had experience in the UK, France, and the US across energy transition, ESG entrepreneurship, and green technology innovation, bringing a cross-regional perspective on how markets emerge and evolve within different institutional contexts. Wendy holds degrees from Yale School of Management, HEC Paris, and UCLA.
