Rodica Avornic
As a Associate Policy Director at Carbon Gap, Rodica is developing and implementing EU advocacy campaigns on carbon removal certification and green claims. Her decision to join Carbon Gap was motivated by a desire to meaningfully contribute to the fight against climate change and to make Europe a leader in carbon removal.
Rodica arrived in Brussels almost seven years ago, after a traineeship at an EU agency in France. Before joining Carbon Gap, she was Programme Manager in Climate, Energy and Sustainability at the think tank Friends of Europe. Prior to that, she spent more than five years in several Brussels-based public affairs consultancies, focusing on EU climate, energy and environmental policies.
Rodica holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in European Legal Studies from Europa-Kolleg, University of Hamburg, Germany, and a Bachelor of Laws from the Alexandru I. Cuza University of Iasi, Romania. She co-founded an NGO in Romania focused on promoting and creating international student exchange projects funded by the EU. In her free time, Rodica co-chairs the events working group of The Brussels Binder, a Brussels-based organisation promoting gender diversity in EU policy debates.
Originally from the Republic of Moldova, Rodica is fluent in Romanian and English.
