5 February | Launch of Germany’s Carbon Removal Readiness Assessment Report

We're launching our Germany Carbon Removal Readiness Assessment Report and Roadmap in Berlin on 5 February.

Carbon Gap|20 January 2026

How much atmospheric carbon dioxide removal (CDR) can Germany feasibly deploy to meet its net-zero and net-negative targets, and how will we get there?

Over the past months, Carbon Gap and Sweco have conducted a comprehensive bottom-up analysis of Germany’s resources, alongside consultations with national stakeholders and a citizen panel. The result is:

  1. Background Report on Germany’s theoretical and practical capacity to remove CO₂ from the atmosphere, and
  2. National Roadmap outlining concrete actions to scale CDR to climate-meaningful levels.

To celebrate the launch of these reports, we hosted an event on 5 February in Berlin from 14:00-17:00.
