Ela Black is an experienced communications professional skilled in translating complex scientific content into language that is accessible to diverse audiences including policymakers and the public and is committed to promoting the crucial role of science in addressing climate change.

Prior to joining Carbon Gap, Ela spent nearly a decade running communications at an international non-profit climate science and policy institute Climate Analytics, which supports climate-vulnerable countries in the international climate negotiations and evaluates how well governments are performing on their emission cutting pledges. Before getting involved in climate change communications, Ela was part of the leadership team of a volunteer-steered community radio station in Australia.

Ela holds a Bachelor of International Studies from Flinders University and a Diploma in Journalism from the University of South Australia. She is pursuing a master’s degree in Library and Information Science at Humboldt University.

Ela lives in Berlin, Germany. Originally from Poland, she is fluent in Polish, English and German.
